This insurance is available to individuals serving in the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces. This includes the Royal Navy/Royal Marines, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force. Additionally, this insurance is extended to veterans, MOD civilians and contractors and forces friends and family, ensuring that all members of the military community can access reliable insurance protection.

This ensures that you only pay for the protection you need. The bronze, silver and gold policies all offer cover for being recalled for military service and the ability to purchase this insurance even when you are on a base overseas. What should I be thinking about when selecting a cover level?
It is very important that you choose the correct insurance for your travel needs, and before you buy you are aware of all the key product information.

What about Travel restrictions?
You should always check international, national, and regional travel guidelines before you travel. Your cover may be affected if government restrictions impact your trip. This can be checked on the Foreign Office website.

What's not covered?
- Any claim from you failing to take medication as prescribed by your medical practitioner
- Any claim arising from you being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Any claim arising from you being involved in any criminal act
- Any claim arising from pre-existing medical conditions (see medical declaration)
- Any claim for travel undertaken against Government advice
- Any claim for travel against medical advice or to get medical treatment
- The insured deciding they no long wish to travel
- Any excess taken from a claim as stated in your chosen policy
Is there an age limit on this travel insurance?
Columbus single trip policies cover travellers up to 85 years old and 74 years old on Annual multi trip policies.
Is there a maximum number of days I can be away for?
The policy only offers cover up to a certain number of days when purchasing single trip insurance. With an Annual multi-trip policy you can choose from a maximum trip duration of 31, 45 or 60 days. The policy schedule will include confirmation of the maximum days of cover provided.
Am I covered for travel delays?
Yes depending on the cover you select you will be covered for travel delay and missed connections.
Will the insurance cover me if I lose cash or important documents whilst away?
Yes, all the levels of cover include lost cash, passport, documents and driving licence.
Columbus Gold policies cover loss of personal money and documents up to £500, which includes a cash only limit of £300.
Does this insurance cover military duty?
Yes this insurance covers you for trip cancellations due to unexpected military duty. If you, or a travelling companion, are a member of the Armed Forces and are required to stay in your country of residence because your leave is unexpectedly withdrawn this policy will cover you for cancellation.
