What is private medical insurance?

Private medical insurance (sometimes referred to as private health insurance or private healthcare) enables you to get private medical treatment when its needed. This is from a wide choice of professionals and through a network of 400 private hospitals across the country.

This insurance, paid for monthly or annually, gives you some protection of the cost of non-emergency private treatment, whether that’s needed for an injury or an illness, subject to the terms and conditions of your policy. Private medical insurance will give you access to treatment quicker and avoids you having to pay for treatment yourself.

There are a range of cover options so you can make the policy work for you, cancer cover is provided as standard on every policy and there’s the option for access to Aviva Digital GP for online consultations
